Years ago, I created a Microsoft Access database to catalog my card collection. Fast forward many years, and I found a few apps on the Play Store that made the process much easier. Here’s an overview of the apps and websites I’ve tested and their progress.
CardBase – GetCardBase (Collectibles)
I started with CardBase because it looked impressive, and they nearly perfected the process. Whenever I encountered an issue or reported an incorrect “sale” that significantly affected card values, they addressed it and even reached out via email for discussions. The programmers also engaged with me when I made suggestions, which is rare for apps and websites of this nature. However, I faced challenges importing all my cards due to the sheer volume of my collection.
After revisiting it recently, I found it had rebranded to Collectibles on the App Store. I downloaded and tried it again. It still looked great, and I’m planning to try importing my cards once more. However, I noticed that when I scanned a PSA card, it sometimes returned no matches, which was odd.
MarketMovers
I’ve been subscribing to MarketMovers on and off. It has its strengths, but each time I report an issue or make a suggestion that’s truly necessary, they tend to dismiss it. They often say, “it’s coming,” but it never actually happens.
Recently, I reported that card values were inflated due to incorrect cards being included as “sales” on eBay. While this is a common issue, they don’t provide a way for users, who are their best resource, to report inaccuracies. When I reached out again, I got the same “coming soon” response. Additionally, I was disappointed that the first 10 cards I wanted to add to my collection couldn’t be found, despite them being Star Rookies.
Alt.xyz
This is the app I use most frequently. They have a feedback forum where user feedback is ranked by the community, ensuring that only the most popular requests are considered. This is a smart approach.
One downside of Alt is that there’s no way to export your card list, which is a standard feature in other apps. Recent updates also caused some issues, but when I reported a problem with sorting, it was fixed within a few days.
The best feature of Alt is that you can enter a CERT number, and it automatically pulls up your card information!
More to come!
